Disturbing Recording Reveals Point Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush

Both Sergeants Moments Prior to the Attacker Got Stunned

A senior officer who jumped to the assistance of a partner who was ambushed by a knife attacker has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he held a knife to the throat of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown began the violence as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a traffic accident in the area in mid-2023.

Brown attacked with blade the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.

"Officer knifed," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.

Officer-mounted and dashboard camera recording shared by the force showed Brown, wearing in black with a head covered, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade pointed forward.

He ran into the policeman who tripped and went down to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the ground despite being continually attacked with the weapon.

PC Wolstencroft Stunned the Attacker, Jacob Brown, with a Electric Weapon

PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a clear shot, concluding the fight to an finish.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide help on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell suffered two open wounds to his throat and additional wounds to his arms and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced cut injuries.

The department said Sgt Foster employed his hands to stop his partner's bleeding before emergency responders arrived.

This most recent honor arrives after the trio of policemen won internal Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the regional Police Federation in early 2024.

They were also awarded a North West Courage Honor in mid-2024.

"The actions of the entire team eventually protected one another and ensured no bystanders endured any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in spring 2024, per authorities.
